Arizona Constitution Remains Steady on Marriage Definition

A measure to change the state constitution in Arizona to define marriage as being only between a man and woman did not pass yesterday. The strict measure would have forbidden civil unions and any legal form of domestic partners.

Similar amendments have passed in 20 states, and this year in seven more states: Colorado, Idaho, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin. Only Arizona turned down the measure.
